Nestled not far from the villages of Sapzurro and Capurgan\u00e1, at the northernmost tip of the Caribbean Choc\u00f3, this secluded beach gives the impression of being cut off from the world. Here, there are no roads, just a single hotel-restaurant, the rainforest lining the clear sands and a peaceful, azure sea. You can get there on foot via a jungle trail or by lancha, an approach that accentuates the sense of adventure and being at the end of the world.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\">Playa Soledad charms with its wild and serene ambience, perfect for those in search of peace and disconnection. Wide and lined with palm trees, the beach is ideal for swimming and snorkeling, or simply lazing in the shade, watching the discreet comings and goings of the fishermen. A short walk away, Sapzurro and Capurgan\u00e1 complete the experience with their human-scale accommodations, local restaurants and singular frontier atmosphere. Each time, there was a snag: too many pebbles or rocks, plastic waste, or simply too many people. In short, the postcard beach was long overdue. But since we were there and many travellers were telling us about Playa Soledad, we decided to give it a try. And this time, the surprise was excellent. Although private, the beach is clean, with large areas of sand free of rocks, no algae and, on weekdays at least, reasonable visitor numbers. The water is calm, the setting wild, and the atmosphere much more peaceful than in neighboring villages. On weekdays, outside vacation periods, it remains quiet, ideal for enjoying the area in peace and quiet. On weekends, public holidays and school vacations, the beach comes alive with visitors from Sapzurro, Capurgan\u00e1 and beyond. Fortunately, its size means you can get away from the crowds and enjoy a little peace and quiet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Climate in <strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>Playa Soledad<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>: <\/strong>The region enjoys a humid intertropical climate, with warm, stable temperatures all year round, generally between 25\u00b0C and 32\u00b0C. The driest period is from December to April, with more sunshine and less rain, although there are occasional showers. It&#8217;s the ideal time to enjoy the beaches, hike in the jungle and explore the surrounding area in good conditions. From May to November, the rainy season takes over, with more frequent and often intense rainfall at the end of the day or in the evening. Heat and humidity remain constant, however. This generous tropical climate maintains dense, verdant vegetation all year round, creating lush landscapes and rich biodiversity. Even during the wet season, the region retains all its charm, especially for travelers who love nature and wild adventures.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div style=\"height:3em\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\" wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns eplus-wrapper is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex eplus-styles-uid-b02526\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column eplus-wrapper is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/u\/2\/embed?mid=1p-HedEEp1l6GsqnVHfpp9YBo0FzJVEY&amp;ehbc=2E312F&amp;noprof=1\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" class=\" eplus-styles-uid-dfcfe5\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div><hr class=\"is-style-dots wp-block-separator has-text-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-background eplus-wrapper eplus-styles-uid-a3cde3\" style=\"background-color:#da906b;color:#da906b\"><h2 class=\" wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper eplus-styles-uid-2511c5\"><strong>Our experience  <\/strong><\/h2><hr class=\"is-style-dots wp-block-separator has-text-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-background eplus-wrapper eplus-styles-uid-9a0b83\" style=\"background-color:#da906b;color:#da906b\">\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\">From the small village of <strong>Sapzurro<\/strong>, <strong>Playa Soledad<\/strong> is one of the region&#8217;s <strong>must-see attractions<\/strong>. Obviously, we had to discover this famous beach. The day before, we had discussed it with the <strong>manager of our accommodation<\/strong>, organizing an outing that would include both <strong>Playa Soledad<\/strong> and <strong>Bahia Aguacate<\/strong>, located on the way. On D-day, we set off around <strong>09:30<\/strong> on a <strong>small plancha<\/strong>, accompanied by a <strong>Colombian family<\/strong> staying at the same hotel. About <strong>thirty minutes of sailing<\/strong> separate us from our destination.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;<strong>Watch your back!<\/strong>&#8221; That&#8217;s the first thought that crosses our minds. Even though we&#8217;re in <strong>Choc\u00f3<\/strong> at the <strong>end of September<\/strong>, when the sea is calmer, the small waves are enough to make our boat jump, and the <strong>hard plastic seats<\/strong> make the ride a bit painful for the <strong>back and buttocks<\/strong>. Apart from this slight discomfort, the drive is still pleasant: we skirt the <strong>coast<\/strong>, admiring the <strong>jungle-covered reliefs<\/strong> that flow into the sea. We pass <strong>La Coquerita<\/strong>, <strong>Capurgan\u00e1<\/strong> and <strong>Bahia Aguacate<\/strong>, until we reach our <strong>final destination<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\">A <strong>floating pontoon<\/strong> appears on the horizon, and the<strong>water becomes very shallow<\/strong>. The beach is not immediately obvious: behind this makeshift pontoon stands a <strong>mangrove forest<\/strong>, crossed by a <strong>path<\/strong>. It&#8217;s time to <strong>put<\/strong> our <strong>feet down<\/strong>. After a few meters, some people stop us to collect a <strong>tourist tax<\/strong> of around <strong>4,000 COP per person<\/strong>, a common practice in the region.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\">Once payment has been made, we take the <strong>path<\/strong>, a short <strong>wooden pontoon<\/strong> across the mangrove. The route is fast but pleasant, and on the other side, <strong>Playa Soledad<\/strong> is finally revealed. As we move on, the <strong>mangrove fades away<\/strong>, giving way to a <strong>vast white-sand beach<\/strong>. Compared with other beaches in the region, it is <strong>generous<\/strong> and relatively <strong>uncrowded<\/strong>. Apart from a <strong>small hotel-restaurant<\/strong> with a <strong>discreet swimming pool<\/strong>, well integrated into the landscape, there&#8217;s nothing to disturb the <strong>peace and quiet of the area<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\">As is often the case in <strong>Choc\u00f3<\/strong>, we find ourselves with the <strong>sea on one side<\/strong> and the <strong>jungle on the other<\/strong>, creating a particularly pleasant <strong>end-of-the-world atmosphere<\/strong>. Other visitors are also present, but <strong>attendance remains reasonable<\/strong>, allowing visitors to enjoy the place to the full.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\">The gently <strong>curving<\/strong> beach begins with a <strong>rocky area<\/strong>, ideal for <strong>snorkeling<\/strong> and spotting <strong>small fish<\/strong>. Then comes the <strong>first stretch of sand<\/strong>, with a few <strong>deckchairs and tables<\/strong> (provided you <strong>eat at the restaurant<\/strong>). Then the <strong>mangrove<\/strong> swells down to the sea, <strong>dividing the beach in two<\/strong>. The <strong>second part<\/strong>, almost like a <strong>small peninsula<\/strong>, is surrounded by <strong>water on both sides<\/strong> and is <strong>less crowded<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\">The<strong>water<\/strong> is the <strong>perfect temperature<\/strong>, crystal-clear, with no <strong>algae<\/strong> or <strong>plastic<\/strong>, and only a few <strong>pebbles<\/strong> near the rocky area. A true <strong>Caribbean beach<\/strong> as we imagine it: <strong>paradisiacal<\/strong>. It&#8217;s easy to imagine that on <strong>weekends<\/strong>, <strong>public holidays<\/strong> or <strong>Colombian school vacations<\/strong>, the beach can be much <strong>livelier and noisier<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\">We had <strong>lunch at the hotel restaurant<\/strong>, featuring <strong>Colombian cuisine<\/strong>, with a choice of <strong>meat, fish or vegetarian dishes<\/strong>. The <strong>staff aren&#8217;t very engaging<\/strong>, but that wasn&#8217;t the purpose of our visit: we were there to <strong>enjoy the place<\/strong>.
