Colombia's 5 regions
The Caribbean Coast in the north, with its beaches, warm climate and coastal towns, particularly Cartagena and Santa Marta, which are popular with tourists. Caribbean culture, rich in music and flavors, permeates the region.
The Pacific Coast to the west, is less visited than the Caribbean coast. It offers wild beaches, authentic Afro-Colombian culture and humpback whale watching. Tourist infrastructures are limited.
The Andes in the center, are marked by mountainous terrain, including the capital Bogota and colonial towns such as Villa de Leyva. Urban life is lively, with contrasts between modernity and tradition.
The Orinoquía to the east of the Andes, is characterized by its vast plains, land of livestock and agriculture, tranquil rivers and rural ambience. Ecotourism is popular here, with opportunities to observe a wide variety of wildlife. This region is less frequented by tourists, offering a more authentic experience.
The Amazon region mainly in the south, is characterized by dense jungle and extraordinary biodiversity. National parks such as Chiribiquete are home to unique species and offer adventures in discovery. This region is less frequented, but attracts nature and indigenous culture enthusiasts.
